How it works

  1. Step 1

    Choose the locked PDF

A PDF you have the password for. It is never uploaded.

  2. Step 2

    Enter its password

The one you use to open it — or nothing, if it only blocks printing.

  3. Step 3

    Download

The same PDF, now opening without a password.

Tips for unlocking PDFs

  • Only unlock PDFs that are yours, or that you're allowed to change.
  • Bank and government PDFs often use your date of birth or ID number as the password.
  • After unlocking, you can merge, split or compress the PDF.

Questions

How do I remove a password from a PDF?

Choose the locked PDF, type its password and tap Unlock PDF. You download the same PDF without the password.

Can you unlock a PDF without the password?

No. You need the password that opens it. If the PDF opens without one but blocks printing or copying, leave the field empty and those limits are removed.

My bank statement is locked. What is the password?

Banks and government offices usually say it in the email or letter — often your date of birth, customer ID or part of your name.

Will the PDF change?

No. Pages, text and quality stay exactly the same; only the password is removed.

Is my PDF or password uploaded?

No. The PDF is unlocked in your browser; neither the file nor the password leaves your device.
